This specific type of Porifera known vastly as the finger sponge share the characteristic of not having a circulatory system. Instead, they circulate water water through them to breath, attain nutrients, and rid themselves of waste. In some sense, the Porifera are one step above an open circulatory system, where its "blood", the water that is circulated throughout of its' body is confined not to its body , but to the entire ocean. Just like all other Porifera, they feed by circulating water through their bodies, just like other sponges do.
